Although most swings are found in the garden, you can be sure to find a few in the house too! But for the sake of arguing, less talk about outdoor swings. If you live in a harsh climate and don’t want to take your swing down every winter, then having it made from a solid wood or other durable material will make all the difference. Teak is by far the most popular wood to build swings from due to the fact that it ages very well and has a natural repelent to pestilance.
If you are looking for a swing for your little ones, then the most common material is plastic due to the fact that it won’t give them splinters and will last a lifetime or perhaps a few more lifetimes than we prefer. With the smaller swing sets, you can take them down and store them during the winter or if you have a lot of indoor space, take them inside and enjoy them through the winter.
Porch swings are by far the biggest sellers and can be enjoyed all year round. Wood is still the most popular material, but wrought iron swings seats are beautiful and will look good for years to come.
